Dragon Wheels Restorations 1967 Ford Mustang Survivor Coupe
1967 Ford Mustang Survivor Coupe. Just recovered from the USA is this 23900mile unrestored Survivor 289 Coupe.
This San Jose built Coupe was originally a demonstrator for Welman Ford in Tujunga, California. Delivered in Candy Apple Red with Parchment interior running a 289/2 bbl with Smog, C4 automatic transmission, PAS and Air-Con. Sold to Herman Brosch who lived some 3 miles from the dealership. Mr. Brosch kept the car garaged when not in use and used it very sparingly until his death when it passed to his Grandson in Ohio, who did not use the car. The mileage of 23900 is original and correct.
The car is completely original, paint wise apart from a repainted trunk lid. All of the mechanics are original apart from general servicing work.
The car is undergoing a full detailed recommissioning and refreshing of all the suspension rubbers boots and joints. The hot climate has perished most of them.
The dry climate where the Mustang lived has ensured that all the Factory underbody finishes and red-oxide paint have survived the past 51 years in near perfect condition and the car retains every single original panel and has never been welded or repaired.
The Coupe has now undergone its main recommissioning work. At the rear of the car, this has entailed removal of the rear suspension with the fitting of an upgrade by way of 68 Shelby rear brakes, painting/servicing and detailing of the original axle/springs and driveshaft with fresh dampers.
The original 2 into 1 exhaust system has been replaced with a Factory type 2inch dual system, whilst the automatic transmission and engine have been fully serviced.
At the front of the car, the entire front suspension has been rebuilt/detailed and refreshed as required but upgraded with a dual circuit power boosted brake system and a Wilwood disc conversion. Along with a larger diameter front sway bar assembly.
The car has been fitted with a set of 67 Factory styled steel wheels and radial tyres.
For road safety, the vehicles lights have been converted to UK specification without hard changes.
